Hanzee

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This policy explains what information the Hanzee app (“Hanzee”, “the app”) handles, why, and what your choices are. Hanzee is developed by Aleksy Tylkowski, an individual developer based in Poland, who is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach me at support@hanzee.app.

In short

Information that stays on your device

Your flashcard decks, recently viewed words, writing practice progress and settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to me or to anyone else. They may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup), which are governed by your own backup settings and Apple’s privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes this information from the device.

Pronunciation uses the text-to-speech voices built into iOS, on your device.

Information the app sends

Usage statistics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used — for example which screens are opened, how long sessions last and which features are popular. This includes the app version, device model, iOS version, language, an approximate country derived from your IP address, and a random identifier created for this installation of the app. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID. Statistics are kept no longer than 14 months.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits a serious error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with technical details: what the app was doing, the device model, iOS version, free memory and storage, and a random installation identifier. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.

Remote configuration

The app uses Firebase Remote Config to receive settings (such as the limits of the free version) without an update. This uses the same random installation identifier.

Bug reports you send

If you choose to send a report from “Report a Bug”, it contains your message, your email address if you enter one, and — unless you switch it off — the app version, iOS version, device model and language. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and used only to fix the problem and, if you left an address, to reply to you. Reports are deleted once they are no longer needed, and at the latest after two years.

Purchases

Hanzee Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; I never receive your card details or your Apple ID. To know which features you have unlocked, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a random anonymous identifier, your purchase and subscription history for Hanzee, the App Store country, the app and iOS version, and your IP address (used for security and to determine your region). This information is kept for as long as it is needed to provide your purchases and to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your data is processed on these bases:

What I don’t do

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask me to restrict or stop processing it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Write to support@hanzee.app. Because the app has no accounts, the data is pseudonymous; I may ask for details that help find it (for example the date you sent a bug report). You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the authority where you live.

Deleting the app removes all information stored on your device. Your purchases stay tied to your Apple ID and can be restored at any time.

Children

Hanzee is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires a higher age), and I don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, please contact me and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
